Dusty Donuts DD016 and DD017 - 5th Label Anniversary
Dusty Donuts are back. With two Donuts for your 45 pleasure.
Once again Dusty Donuts strike with homages to the early days of Hip-Hop. For their 5th label anniversary they are releasing two "Donuts" to celebrate the label. After listening to both on hearthis, i must say, that i love them all but i have one that i like a bit more.
The use of original songs that created Hip-Hop classics is a speciality of the Dusty Donut guys and they know how to teach you well:
DD016:
The native tongue 45.
On the A side there ist the remix of "Just A touch Of Love" by Slade that was used for De La Souls "Keeping the Faith". Also used in this remix are the other Samples like "Could It Be Love" by Bob Marley that where used in the De La Soul song. The Use of the Bob Marley sample adds a little bit of highlight to this tune. Love the use of the sample.
The B Side comes around with the samples of "Bonita Applebum" by A Tribe Called Quest. The track is build like the A side. Main Theme used here ist "Daylight" by Ramp. The other samples of the ATCQ Song are also used in this homage.
Both tracks are smooth, laid-back tunes with a crunchy beat. A must for lovers of Hip-Hop and the original samples used back in the Days.

The Westcoast 45
The A side is a tribute to Snoop Doggs "Gin and Juice". "I get Lifted" by George McCrae is the main part used in this "Mashup" of original samples.
The B side uses Evelin "Champagne" King "The Show Is Over" to get the connection to Ice Cubes "You Know How We Do It". Also used ist Kool & The Gangs "Summer Madness"like in the original.
The DD017 is the G-FUNK Donut. Both (Hip Hop) tracks are straight from the G-funk era in the early nineties. The mixed originals are perfectly blended into each other in typical Dusty Donuts style.
The DD017 B side is my favorite. Must be because of Ice Cube. I also liked his stuff back then. Maybe it also is because of the beat of this mix that kicks in like hell!
Those two "dust bangers" should hit the street next month. So you better watch out on their bandcamp site so you don't miss this one.
